Cobra C.L.A.W.S. Commander is packaged with Cross Hair in the new green Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what your buying.
Opening the package you are met with some packaging you are not familar with when it comes to G.I.Joe. There is a 2 part packaging holding everything in place. It is all well packed. The Spy Troops gear is on the bottom part of the packaging. Some pieces are held in with tape. Some other accessories are held in place by the package which can be a little tricky to come out. The figure comes right out. C.L.A.W.S. Commander comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.
Here's a really nice figure that's well sculpted, looks very good as a bad guy, but just doesn't fit the role he's put in. He looks like something for the Crimson Skies role play series more than a commanding officier. In other words he looks more like a pilot than someone commanding a whole battalion of soldiers on the ground. Don't get me wrong, he's really great figure design. He has a really menacing look. I see so much potential for custom use as well.
I give Cobra C.L.A.W.s Commander 9 1/2 Cobras. The thought for taking half a point off is because his look seems misplaced for who he is suppose to be. I don't necessarily take points off for accessories, unless the accessories is suppose to be the main point of the figure, but I do take points off for characterization. The story behind a character or history in some cases is very important. Some try to say it isn't, but in the end when all bets are off, you'll find it hard to find people who actually totally can forget the whole package you're presented with. This does not mean for you to pass this figure up. Get him, and get multiples. Multiples so you can use him for customs. Maybe even use this guy to make you a Wild Weasel that's better than the one in the new Rattler.
