WAVE 5.75 - 6

This wave first launched as Wave 5.75 because it was shipping without the Beachhead vs Sand Viper pack. With that pack shipping, it's Wave 6. This set has a lot of repaints, but some nice new figures too!

BEACHHEAD
Beachhead is packaged with Cobra Sand Viper in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Beachhead comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

This is the same Beachhead that's previously come out in Wave 3. The only difference is that he has a new coloring. Pictures on the internet seemed to show that he was a lime green, but he's actually a decent greenish tan that could be thought as an ok military color. His leg is better as the Wave 3 version had a very bad bowlegged look to him. Some fans that have found this figure before I have say he still has the leg problem. Either way he's nothing different, unless you want to count the guile suit.

I give him 5 1/2" Cobras. He gets a low score because he's just a repaint, and not really a good one at that. If he didn't come with the Sand Viper, I'd just say to skip him.

BLACK OUT
Black Out is packaged with Flint in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Black Out comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

We get a great idea for a story right off when we read the filecard. We find out that Black Out is Barrel Roll's brother! As for the figure, he's really nice. He has a very distinguished character. His cool Cobra forearms gives you thoughts of Tomax and Xamot's outfits. The great silver on black colors are really nice too! I really hope Hasbro doesn't think this figure needs a repaint! You get some nice weapons that go well with Black Out too. He has a really neat pair of goggles that you could use as infrared, or a magnification tracking device. His head does look sort of like Road Pig though and could be used in a custom creation! He could have had swivel wrists, and really should have!

I give Black Out 9 1/2 Cobras. He'd get a 10 if he has swivel wrists. The way the wrists are molded, he has a weird stance with a gun. This doesn't stand in the way for the figure being really nice. He's well worth owning and shouldn't be passed up!

COBRA SAND VIPER
Cobra Sand Viper is packaged with Beachhead in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Cobra Sand Viper comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

Anyone that saw this figure online before the release of this wave couldn't wait to get this one! He looked great in the images, and once you see him on the shelf you know you're getting a great addition to your Cobra army! The look of this figure is really amazing! He really stands out in this wave! The Sand Viper has such a menacing look about him! He almost looks like a character from Hellraiser with his detailing on his suit. It almost looks as if his outfit is alive! His Spy Troop gear is just discardable. He has a reissue of Sgt. Hacker's vest complete with the Cobra logo and he also has Grunt's helmet from the Battle Blitz pack. The gear isn't anything that would make you feel any different about the Sand Viper though.

The Sand Viper gets a 10! He's a really cool character and something I could see troop builders having fun with! Hasbro did an outstanding job! The pack comes with the repaint Beachhead, but he shouldn't keep you from buying this figure! If you even have a thought of troop building, you shouldn't worry about Beachhead being there either. You can find some use for Beachhead!

DART
Dart is packaged with Dr. Mindbender in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Dart comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

This is the same Dart figure that came out in Wave 4. He still has the crooked head even. He's a really nice character, and very well worth having in your collection, but I don't think a repaint was needed. Basically all that was done is adding some color to him instead of his more military look that he has in Wave 3. I prefer the first version. He did get a guile suit!

I give Dart 5 Cobras. If you have no need of this repainted Dart and don't have a use for the repaint Mindbender, I'd say skip this pack.

DEPTH CHARGE
Depth Charge is packaged with the Wave Crusher in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Depth Charge comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

The over all package you get with this figure has to make him the best of the Wave. While the Sand Viper is the best figure, this one comes with great accessories to add to an already great figure! You get an attack jet ski basically that has the ability to convert into an underwater sled. Depth Charge's Spy Gear changes him into a Cobra Morey, and it looks pretty cool. He does have his minor problems of course, but nothing that really hurts the presentation. Something that should be mentioned and singled out is his swivel arm joint. There isn't one! Hasbro has decided to try a new style joint that seems to work well in this case! It does make his elbow smaller and because of that his shoulder joints stand out a little more so, but it's pulled off well. It'll be interesting to see how Hasbro further develops this new articulation idea.

Depth Charge gets a 10 of course! A really great figure that chould be both great fun for kids and a very nice piece to a collector's collection!

DR. MINDBENDER
Dr. Mindbender is packaged with Dart in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Dr. Mindbender comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

If you are wanting a Dr. Mindbender that works well with a Crimson division, you get one here. He'd go well with last year's G.I.Joe Convention special. He's just a repaint that's done in red rather than the purple. There's nothing special here.

I'll give Mindbender 5 Cobras. He's a nice figure, but it wasn't necessary to have a red version of him.

DREADNOK RIPPER
Dreadnok Ripper is packaged with Roadblock in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Dreadnok Ripper comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

Ripper is done up in a more normal looking color pattern. I like the first one fine and I like this one fine. In some ways I do say this one is an improvement. He does have blue pants now which look more like bluejeans. Something that the original Dreadnok figures were designed to wear. His colors are more of a look that you'd think Ripper might wear also if you judge by the original Ripper. Hasbro also provided a really nice silver gun for Ripper this time. He still doesn't have his "ripper" blade however.

Since this repaint is somewhat an improvement to the original, I give him 7 Cobras. He would have got 6, but the added extra attention to his gun accessory was nice. You'll get him when you get Roadblock, so you can decide what you want to do with him.

FLINT
Flint is packaged with Black Out in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Flint comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

This is just a straight repaint of the Wave 3 figure. Some fans feel he is an improvement, but I have to say he's not. He has different color hair and still has the odd look on his face that complete isn't Flint. He also still has the really large legs. You do get a new backpack that hasn't been seen before. The thing with this backpack is that it actually straps on. I don't know what to think really. It's almost as if hasbro is thinking about getting rid of the hole on the figure's back and decided to play with some idea.

Flint gets 5 Cobras. He's a repaint that does not add anything to the original. He come with Black Out, so maybe you can use Flint in a custom job.

OVER KILL
Over Kill is packaged with Cobra Sand Viper in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Over Kill comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

If you want Over kill to lead a squad of Sand Vipers into battle, this is your version of Over Kill to use. He has a great desert look, but there's really no reason for this repaint. Sure someone might want to say "His reason for being is to make Hasbro money", but that's not the point of these reviews. These reviews are to look at each figure from the standpoint of how to look at the figure's use in your collection! I can only see minimum use.

Over Kill gets 5 Cobras. He's no improvement, and not really necessary to have come out again. Get him if you want a desert colored Over Kill, or if you are already getting Shipwreck, but otherwise avoid him.

ROADBLOCK
Roadblock is packaged with Cobra Sand Viper in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Roadblock comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

Roadblock is back! Fans have been waiting and wanting a new version, and now here he is. He is a really great figure. The design is really nice. All of the great praise to this figure is a given, so I'll just focus on the negatives. He should have had swivel wrist joints. His waist should have been designed better because he tends to want to lean too far forward. He could have used a slightly longer neck. He could have been made taller. His gun should be bigger. All that is somewhat minor but still has to be mentioned.

This figure gets 9 Cobras. He gets points taken off for the very obvious things that should have been added to this figure. Swivel wrists was a must for him to hold the gun even better. His gun should have been bigger without question! Over all he's a nice update. He's worth owning and he should be part of anyone's collection!

SHIPWRECK
Shipwreck is packaged with Over Kill in the Spy Troops style packaging. The figure it's self has a great over all presentation. You get a good look at what you're buying.

The 2 part packaging holding everything in place continues. The over all packaging is all well packed. Some parts are held a little too secure by the packaging, but minor work gets everything out fairly easy. The figure comes right out also. Shipwreck comes with his filecard which is attached to the background cardboard. It is written well.

This is an interesting repaint. With Shipwreck we get the same figure we already have seen in Wave 4, but he has an all new head sculpt. It really adds to this figure. He's also the main "Spy Troop" to this wave. He comes with all the battle gear and is desguised to be Cobra Commander. It isn't pulled off so well, but he does look ok. With an imagination, it works well, but otherwise the disguise isn't something I'd worry with for Shipwreck. I do see kids having fun with this though. Fans of the character Shipwreck will also have fun with this one.

Shipwreck gets 8 1/2 Cobras. He's a repaint, but he's done so in a way that does update him. I think if Hasbro is going to make a repaint, something extra should be done that changes the figure somewhat. He's an ok figure, but he's not going to be a major seller for Hasbro.
